Sustainable Communities in Europe
Would you like to know more about what can be achieved in eco-towns and sustainable urban extensions? Then this analytical Study Tour, led by the world-eminent planner, Professor Sir Peter Hall, is for you.
Travelling by train from London St Pancras*, the tour will visit existing, successful sustainable communities, towns and urban extensions in Southern Germany including Karlsruhe, Freiburg and Strasbourg on the journey's return. There will be ample time for discussion as well as the opportunity to hear from the politicians and officers who made it happen, and from residents who live there.
Housing design, transport and infrastructure provision, micro-generation, low and zero carbon energy, community development and cohesion, waste management, employment, parks and open spaces - all play a part in creating a successful sustainable community and the tour gives delegates the opportunity to experience at first hand some of the most successful such settlements in Europe.
This tour will appeal to local authority officers and members, developers, planners, NGOS and voluntary organisations, architects, infrastructure providers, in fact anyone concerned with the built environment who is driven to combat the climate change challenges of the future by providing truly sustainable new solutions to housing provision.
Delegate prices are £1,500 for TCPA members and £1,675 for non members (both plus VAT) and include ALL travel (by rail and coach), meals, accommodation and expert tour guides.
