Planning Policy Officer

Duration: 3 year contract
Salary Range: circa Ł22,000 - Ł25,000
Responsible to: Policy and Projects Manager

Planning Policy Officer Job Purpose - To further develop, shape and articulate the TCPA’s planning and development policy agenda in line with the TCPA’s objectives, via written submissions, projects, research, and contributing to TCPA activities including conferences and corporate events
  1. To report to, and service, the Policy Council by leading the preparation of TCPA submissions to Government and other relevant consultations on issues of concern to the TCPA as guided by the Policy and Projects Manager including preparing meeting agenda and taking.
  2. To devise and deliver new policy and project initiatives relating to the TCPA’s town and country planning policies in line with the TCPA’s objectives and funding opportunities, working closely with the staff team and as guided by the Policy and Projects Manager.
  3. To continue and further develop existing policy initiatives.
  4. To prepare and submit proposals to funding bodies for innovative and practical projects that would help enhance the art and science of the town planning system, via high quality research, policy and project work,
  5. To project manage successful applications for projects so that they are delivered on time and to budget.
  6. To work closely with the Policy and Projects Manager and other staff members to ensure co-ordination and integration of outcomes and dissemination with other aspects of the TCPA’s activities.
  7. To develop links with Government departments and agencies and other relevant organisations, interest groups and individuals where this will further the work of the TCPA in relation to the Job Purpose.
  8. Where relevant, to provide representation in person or to ensure that the TCPA is adequately represented in consultations at national and regional levels, including presenting evidence at Examinations in Public for example.
  9. To give professional advice where this is required in order to support any aspect the work programme.
  10. To undertake own word processing and administration.
  11. Other duties as the Policy and Projects Manager/Chief Executive may reasonably require to implement the TCPA work programme, including working with other staff, Trustees and the Policy Council.
