How can we deliver the level of housing development needed while securing the right kinds of health infrastructure to support local growth and regeneration?

This seminar (see flyer) will provide particular insight, principles and guidance on collaborative approaches between Local Planning Authorities and CCGs, and other partners to plan health infrastructure needs in planning and development as required by the National Planning Policy Framework, and making the best use of estates. NPPF's Paragraph 156 requires Local Plans to plan for strategic policies including provision of health, and Paragraph 162 to work with health providers to assess needs for infrastructure for health. This supports the implementation of the Localism Act's Duty to Cooperate on both LPAs and CCGs. The seminar will also reiterate the importance of building in health and wellbeing in addition to meeting capacity needs for healthcare services in development. Local authorities and health partners can harness the planning system to deliver sustainable local growth with health at the heart.

As part of the seminar, the TCPA will also launch a short Garden Cities guide on health in garden cities and villages. Each attendee will receive a free hard copy. Attendees will also receive a preview of a planning for healthcare needs survey results.
