The Mayor of London has launched a draft new London Plan for consultation. The London Plan is one of the most important documents for the city, it’s a strategic plan which shapes how London evolves and develops. The consultation, which closes on the 2nd March 2018, is an opportunity for everyone to have their say.

In the draft new London Plan the Mayor of London has introduced a new concept called ‘Good Growth’ which according to the draft plan “…is about working to re-balance development in London towards more genuinely affordable homes for working Londoners to buy and rent. And it’s about delivering a more socially integrated and sustainable city, where people have more of a say and growth brings the best out of existing places while providing new opportunities to communities.”

“Good Growth is not about supporting growth at any cost, which for too long has been the priority, leaving many Londoners feeling excluded and contributing to a lack of community cohesion and social integration.”

The TCPA and Planning Aid for London are holding a FREE lunch time briefing which will provide attendees the opportunity to directly engage with the Greater London Authority (GLA), to learn more about what “Good Growth” means in practice and to participate in discussions to help understand the policy and practical implications of the new London Plan.

Darren Richards, Strategic Planning Manager, GLA Planning team will be providing an overview of the new draft London Plan at the briefing. Sandra Fryer, TCPA Strategic Task Team convenor will chair this event.
