SUMMARY:TCPA Autumn Training programme - Healthy placemaking and the NPPF 
DESCRIPTION:Session purpose:  \n\n\n\nThe Government’s new National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) was published on August 17th 2026 setting the direction of a whole new generation of local and strategic plans.  \n\n\n\nThis training session will give attendees an understanding of the new NPPF and how it addresses healthy placemaking\, the promotion of good health and reducing health inequalities. It will outline key opportunities the NPPF and associated reforms\, including the Design and Placemaking Planning Practice Guide provide for Local Plans to create homes and communities that will help people to thrive.   \n\n\n\nWho is this training for?  \n\n\n\nThis session is targeted at planning practitioners\, local authority members/officers and those interested or working in creating healthy places.   \n\n\n\nThis session can contribute to your Continued Professional Development – and you can request a CPD certificate after attendance on the course.  \n\n\n\nThanks to the support of Sport England we are pleased to offer this training free of charge for attendees. \n\n\n\nFormat: Online\, Zoom\, October 19\, 3:00pm – 4:00pm \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAnnual TCPA memberships are £62 for standard\, £36 for concessions and £16 for students\, click here to find out more \n\n\n\nCheck to see if you are part of a New Communities Group (NCG) or TCPA member organisation \n\n\n\nFor further details about the New Communities Group (NCG)\, click here

There are also a wide range of other changes to national policy which continue to be implemented.  \n\n\n\nThis training session will give attendees an in depth understanding of the new NPPF and what it means for the planning system as well as give an update on wider planning reforms.  \n\n\n\nKey changes in the publication draft provide hooks for ambitious communities\, councils and their development partners to plan for climate resilient and healthy places. This session is designed to equip local authorities with the tools to secure progressive outcomes while navigating the new planning system and associated policy.  \n\n\n\nWho is this training for?  \n\n\n\nThis session is targeted at planning practitioners\, local authority officers and those interested or working in the planning space.   \n\n\n\nThis session can contribute to your Continued Professional Development – and you can request a CPD certificate after attendance on the course.  \n\n\n\nPlease note\, this event is free for local authority members of the TCPA’s New Communities Group (NCG).
