SUMMARY:TCPA Annual Conference 2026 Planning: A Matter of Life and Death
DESCRIPTION:Regent’s University London\, Inner Circle\, Regent’s Park\, London\, NW1 4NS \n\n\n\nPlanning increasingly determines our resilience in the face of climate change and its impacts on our health. \n\n\n\nThe new National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) sets the direction of a whole new generation of local and strategic plans. SUMMARY:The new NPPF: opportunities/implications for climate mitigation? 
DESCRIPTION:Session purpose:  \n\n\n\nThe updated National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) represents a significant change to the way local plans and planning decisions will be made in England. One of the most important functions of the planning system is to enable and accelerate action to reduce the carbon emissions from the built environment. In this training session the TCPA will provide an overview of key policy changes relating climate change in the NPPF\, identify the key policy enablers to support climate action in local plans\, and explore how the new framework might impact decision making in relation to climate considerations.  \n\n\n\nThe training will cover key policy issues including sustainable travel\, renewable energy and zero carbon buildings\, as well as the importance of carbon assessments to support and evidence carbon mitigation policies in local plans.  \n\n\n\nThe training will be suitable for planners working in local and strategic plan making and development management\, consultants\, elected Councillors and local government officers working in climate change and sustainability.   \n\n\n\nWho is this training for?  \n\n\n\nThis session is targeted at planning and climate practitioners\, local authority members/officers and those interested or working in creating climate resilient places.   \n\n\n\nFormat: Online\, Zoom\, December 2nd 2:00pm – 3:00pm  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAnnual TCPA memberships are £62 for standard\, £36 for concessions and £16 for students\, click here to find out more \n\n\n\nCheck to see if you are part of a New Communities Group (NCG) or TCPA member organisation

DESCRIPTION:Session purpose:  \n\n\n\nThe TCPA recognise the importance of Parish and Town Councils in giving a voice to people on planning issues particularly through the preparation of neighbourhood plans.   This is becoming even more important as local Government reorganisation is set to make planning authorities larger and more distance from the people they serve.  \n\n\n\nThe updated National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) represents a significant change to the way local plans and planning decisions will be made in England.   \n\n\n\nThe training will give a general introduction to planning and provide and give an update on the planning system in the context of the updated NPPF.  \n\n\n\nThe training will be suitable for parish councillors and councils interested or working in planning.  \n\n\n\nWho is this training for?  \n\n\n\nThis session is targeted at parish council members that are involved in planning and want to learn more about planning policy\, implementation and impact.   \n\n\n\nFormat: Online\, Zoom\, December 9th 1:30pm-2:30pm
