This webinar is aimed at coastal practitioners and planners who provide advice, guidance and decisions on spatial planning in local authorities with coasts, estuaries or tidal rivers. It will provide worked examples of how Shoreline Management Plans (SMPs), the revised National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) and Coastal Change Management Areas (CCMAs) work in coastal planning. It will also provide background information on SMPs and coastal risk information.

The webinar will cover:

· Development of SMPs and coastal risk information

· A detailed look at chapter 18 of the revised National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF)

· The role of Coastal Change Management Areas (CCMAs) and examples in use

· Information and tools available

This webinar is likely to be of interest to planning officers and coastal practitioners who are involved in Local Plan preparation or in development management. This includes local authorities who have a coastline, estuary or tidal river and wider consultees who provide comment on development and growth opportunities in areas that may be subject to the impacts of coastal change.

This is the second of two coastal planning webinars being delivered and attendees should be familiar with the revised NPPF or have attended the introduction to coastal planning webinar.

Do I need to prepare for the meeting?
