An invitation from Lord Nigel Crisp and the TCPA: A parliamentary drinks reception to celebrate the Healthy Homes Campaign
Time and place
7th June 2022, 6.30pm to 8.30pm
The Churchill Room, The Palace of Westminster
Celebrating phase one of the Healthy Homes campaign
It has never been clearer that England needs to fundamentally improve the way it regulates the quality of new housing. The TCPA’s Healthy Homes campaign has played a crucial role in this national conversation. Not least, it has secured high-level legislative debate about the need for all new homes to be healthy, particularly in relation to the Building Safety Bill, and contributed to the Government’s introduction of higher standards for homes built through Permitted Development Rights. These changes to PDRs alone are likely to have improved the wellbeing of thousands of people across the country.
So, after two-and-a-half years the first phase of the campaign is coming to a close. With phase two beginning in summer 2022, and renewed national interest in housing quality and health, this event is an opportunity to celebrate the campaign’s successes to date, look to its future, and say thank-you to our supporters.
The event will also feature an exhibition of photographs taken as a part of the TCPA’s ‘Surviving England’s 21st Century Slums’ project, which aims to record the impact of Permitted Development Rights housing across England.
Agenda
We have invited high-profile speakers from the Government, Opposition, and national medical organisations. The session will be chaired by Lord Crisp, and photographs will be displayed throughout the event. A finalised agenda will follow shortly.
