Will you be the next recipient of the Pineapple for Healthy Homes?

The entries are now open for the Pineapples Awards 2026.

We are pleased to announce that the Healthy Homes category returns for a second year. The Pineapple for Healthy Homes celebrates best practice and raises awareness on the impact of housing quality on health. The coveted prize builds on the TCPA’s 12 Healthy Homes Principles to consider projects which really shine a light on exemplary homes and their impact to wider places, nature and transport.

What we’re looking for:

The Pineapple for Healthy Homes recognises completed homes that promote the health of residents and citizens. It could be anything from a mixed-use development that includes housing, a street, a social housing refurbishment or a small development of homes.

The homes should be located in the UK and they must be inhabited at the time of entering. There is no timeline restriction in terms of when the housing completed, however we recommend that this has been a notable year in the life of the project.

Previous winning schemes:

In 2025, two projects were lucky enough to scoop the award, impressing the judging panel of Magali Thomson (Project Lead for Placemaking, Great Ormond Street Hospital), Dr Rosalie Callway (Policy and Project Manager, TCPA) and Daniel Black (Programme Director, TRUUD). The winners were announced at the prizegiving event in London on 2 April.

The judges were impressed by Appleby Blue Almshouse’s (London Borough of Southwark for United St. Saviour’s Charity with Witherford Watson Mann) holistic approach to later living, which puts older residents at the heart of the community rather than at the margins.

Meanwhile, Hazelmead (Bridport for Bridport Cohousing CLT with Barefoot Architects) impressed the judges as a trailblazing example of large-scale cohousing, demonstrating determination and community-led ambition at an unprecedented scale.

The Pineapples: celebrating great places
