Chair of the TCPA, Andrew Pritchard, said:
‘We were delighted with the breadth and quality of applications to the post of Chief Executive, reflecting both the high regard in which the TCPA is held and the Association’s robust financial position.
Following a rigorous assessment process, the Board has unanimously agreed to appoint Katy Lock to the role, recognising her outstanding expertise in garden cities and new town development, but also her vision for growing the impact and influence of the TCPA more broadly.
The TCPA has never been more relevant or important to the future of planning and placemaking. On behalf of the Board, I very much look forward to working with Katy to take forward the TCPA’s exciting agenda.‘
Katy Lock, the new Chief Executive of the TCPA said:
‘I am honoured to be appointed Chief Executive of the TCPA and to lead the organisation through its next chapter. The need for our practical idealism and drive for healthy places and inclusive communities has never been more acute.
The coming years present a huge opportunity to reinvigorate the fundamental values of democratic planning, empower communities to shape their own futures, and respond to the challenges of the climate crisis. I look forward to working with our talented team, partners, members and Board to strengthen the TCPA’s impact and reach and to ensure it remains at the forefront of creating homes and communities where everyone can thrive.’
