Key organisations, reports, tools and research papers on green infrastructure.

The potential of green infrastructure isn’t yet recognised in planning policy, practice and decision-making, largely due to a lack of evidence quantifying its multiple benefits, a lack of suitable delivery mechanisms and declining local authority resources due to budget cuts.

This has made green infrastructure vulnerable in the congested and contested policy areas where it is often trumped by economic growth and housing priorities.

To overcome this green infrastructure must be as accessible to everyone. Information on its economic, health and wellbeing benefits must be promoted throughout the world and barriers to access it lifted at every opportunity.

Professor Alister Scott has done a lot to make green infrastructure more accessible for everyone. He is a leading academic in the field of green infrastructure and through his NERC programme has launched a website which publishes key organisations, reports, tools and research papers on the subject.
