2nd December : 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Session purpose:
The updated National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF) represents a significant change to the way local plans and planning decisions will be made in England. One of the most important functions of the planning system is to enable and accelerate action to reduce the carbon emissions from the built environment. In this training session the TCPA will provide an overview of key policy changes relating climate change in the NPPF, identify the key policy enablers to support climate action in local plans, and explore how the new framework might impact decision making in relation to climate considerations.
The training will cover key policy issues including sustainable travel, renewable energy and zero carbon buildings, as well as the importance of carbon assessments to support and evidence carbon mitigation policies in local plans.
The training will be suitable for planners working in local and strategic plan making and development management, consultants, elected Councillors and local government officers working in climate change and sustainability.
Who is this training for?
This session is targeted at planning and climate practitioners, local authority members/officers and those interested or working in creating climate resilient places.
Format: Online, Zoom, December 2nd 2:00pm – 3:00pm
