4th November : 2:00 pm – 3:00 pm
Session purpose:
The new National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), published in August 2026, creates a new framework for a whole generation of local and strategic plans.
The new NPPF contains strengthened policy levers for addressing climate resilience, including an important increase in the scope of adaptation measures that should be considered in plan making and decision-making.
In this training session the TCPA will provide an overview of key policy changes relating climate adaptation in the NPPF, identify the key policy enablers to support climate action in local plans, and explore how the new framework might impact decision making in relation to climate resilience.
The training will cover how planning can help address key issues including flood risk and coastal change, green infrastructure, overheating and the increasing risk of wildfires.
This training session will give attendees an understanding of the new NPPF and how it will impact climate adaptation policy.
Who is this training for?
This session is targeted at planning and climate practitioners, local authority members/officers and those interested or working in creating climate resilient places.
Format: Online, Zoom, November 4th 2:00pm – 3:00pm
